After a long, grey winter it’s nice to see the brighter evenings creeping in and a hint of spring in the air. The sun is beginning to shine and dare we say it, but there have been a few rare days where the coats have been abandoned.
With summer within touching distance it’s time to start thinking about preparing your garden for the warmer months ahead.
Before you can even think about whether to put in that new garden shed or invest in some beautiful decking, your outside space needs some preparation and tending to. Get rid of any dead flowers, leaves and weeds, dispose of any rubbish that the winter winds have blown in and give everywhere a general tidy. Once the area is free from debris you can see it with fresh eyes and note what areas need tending to.
Do you have a greenhouse? Make sure the glazing has been scrubbed clean to allow as much natural light as possible to reach the plants inside.
It’s not only rubbish and cleaning that you need to do, any unwanted bugs and pests need to be dealt with too. Non-toxic sprays are a great way to deal with pests but will not harm your plants and with the addition of a bird feeder to encourage birds to your garden, they can also help with unwelcome visitors.
Spring is also a time to get planting. Do you want to grow more flowers, encourage grass to grow on that muddy patch in the corner or try your hand at growing some vegetables? Whatever your wish to do, make sure you get on with it now so you can enjoy the fruits of your labour during the warmer months.
Now you have spring cleaned your outdoors it’s time to think about the next step – do you have a deck or would you like to install one? If you already have one you can clean it up by removing unwanted leaves that may have found their way into the gaps over time and get the pressure washer out to give it a deep clean. If you have decided that this is the year to build a deck, then we recommend you speak to one of our sales team who will provide you with the best type to suit your needs.
Too many of us spend too much time inside these days, get those wellies on and dust down those gloves and get outside. Soak up the Vitamin D and enjoy your garden. No matter what the size you can turn it in to a space to be proud of that the whole family can enjoy.
